September 2011 – The Tune Into English Roadshow is back!

Dear Teacher,

The school year is about to begin – I hope you all feel refreshed after the summer break.

The Tune Into English Roadshow is currently in preparation, and I would be delighted to visit your school to present it to your students. A letter with full details will be mailed to Italian schools in the coming week – this is online here.  You can see photos and videos from over 250 shows on the Tune Into English facebook page.

This year, due to popular demand, there will be a second Roadshow, based on the best of the previous years’ shows, available only for repeat performances.

This month, as always, there are three exciting new additions to the Downloadable Worksheets section of the Teachers’ Area of www.tuneintoenglish.com.

September 11th is the 10th anniversary of the attack on New York’s World Trade Center. The first new worksheet is dedicated to those who lost their lives that day – Into The Fire by Bruce Springsteen was submitted by Mena Bianco from Naples.

California King Bed by Rihanna was (and continues to be!) one of this summer’s tormentoni. Ideal for revising parts of the body, Maria Gulczynska, Ancona, has written a simple worksheet for this song – your students will love it!

The third worksheet is ideal for practicing the Present Continuous. Featuring a game and gap fill, the worksheet for Suzanne Vega’s Tom’s Diner was sent in by Mariella Leone, Naples.

Don’t forget that Earth, Wind and Fire’s September and Green Day’s Wake Me Up When September Ends are also online!

The 26th of this month is European Day of Languages – to celebrate this there are two extra worksheets this month – in Italian! Prepared by Caterina Ziliani, based in Houston, Texas, you can access the worksheets to Zucchero’s Quanti Anni Ho and Due by Raf on the Tune Into Italian page of the site (on the Roadshow menu).

You can sing along with the UK Top 10 Charts on the Speak Up site – updated weekly, there is a link on the Tune Home page too.
The Karaoke page of Tune Into English now features over 7,500 songs as well as all of this summer’s top hits – why not organise a classroom singing session with your students to ease them into the new year?

Finally, Tune Into English also works with schools in the UK and Ireland to promote study tours there. Please feel free to contact us for further information.

I look forward to meeting you and your students in the coming months,

Best wishes, and indeed Buon Lavoro!
