November 2007 - International Education Week
Dear Teacher,
This is International Education Week (from 12th to 16th November), so an ideal opportunity to use one of the worksheets on the Downloadable Worksheets page in the Teachers’ Area of www.tuneintoenglish.com.
This month we have added two new worksheets - Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald’s “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off”, written by Caterina Ziliani from Milan, is ideal for phonetics, and be sure to also check out the accompanying video. And, as the weather gets colder, the worksheet for Phil Collins’ “Another Day In Paradise” can be used to remember those less fortunate than us. This was written by Analía Massa in Buenos Aries, Argentina, and of course if you have written any worksheets, we would be delighted to publish them.
Tune Into English is preparing for the TESOL National Conference in Rome, where Fergal Kavanagh will present Rap, Rhythm and Rhyme – Tune Into English for Kids! in the Aula Magna from 2.15 to 3 p.m. on Friday 30th November. You can read further details of this, and future Teacher Training sessions in Treviso and the Naples area, by following the link on the home page of the Tune Into English website.
The November issue of Speak Up is now on sale. This month The Song looks at The Buggles’ Video Killed The Radio Star - you can read it by following the link on the home page of the Tune Into English website.
The Karaoke page of Tune Into English (in the Students’ Area) has been expanded to include 180 songs, including recent hits by Rihanna, Tokio Hotel, Take That, Britney Spears and The Plain White T’s, so be sure to tell your students!
Finally, thank you to the students of the Quarta and Quinta of the 4° Circolo, Quartu Sant’Elena (CA) for the wonderful drawings they sent – you can see them by following the link on the Comments page.
Remember, the Tune Into English Roadshow is currently on tour – I look forward to coming to your school, or indeed seeing you at TESOL.
Best wishes,
Fergal Kavanagh
