January 2008 - Happy New Year!
Dear Teacher,

As we begin another year and a new school term, I would like to wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This month there are two additions to the Downloadable Worksheets section of the Tune Into English website. The first, “For The Longest Time” by Billy Joel,  is ideal for reviewing tenses, and was submitted by Prof. Claudia Cantaluppi from Como. Claudia also has a website dedicated to reviewing educational materials on the Internet, and you can check this out by following the link on the Useful Links page in the Teachers’ Area of www.tuneintoenglish.com - go to 29th January 2007 to see what see says about Tune Into English!

The second worksheet, written by Prof. Carrie Elise Rodella from International English in Capaccio (SA), is a low level vocabulary activity based on Bob Dylan’s “Blowing In The Wind”, a song that is sadly as relevant today as when it was first released an incredible 45 years ago.

The current issue of Speak Up, on sale now, also looks at a song from the 1960’s - The Song analyses the lyrics to “Hey Joe”, a song made famous by Jimi Hendrix - you can read about it by following the link on the home page of the Tune Into English website.

Don’t forget that the Tune Into English Roadshow is currently on tour, and I would be delighted to come to your school in 2008.

Once again, I wish you all the best for the coming year. I look forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Fergal Kavanagh
