1957, The pre-Beatles Quarrymen (without Paul, at a Scout summer camp) performed at Liverpool’s The Cavern, then a jazz club. The band played ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ before being sent a note from management saying “Cut out the bloody rock!”
